Coin History
REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE FT. MARIANNE (DUPR) – FRANCE
Valued at 1 centime (one penny), this bronze coin was minted in 1848 and engraved by Augustin Dupr, the 14th Graveur gnral des monnaies (Engraver General of Currency).
The frontside depicts a Liberty bust wearing the Phrygian cap, which signified freedom & the pursuit of liberty. The reverse simply denotes the value denomination. Circulated from 1848-1851.
